“I have been working at CPFL for 8 years and I am part of a team of six electricians at EA Guararapes. We haven't had any lost time accidents for 81 years, we are already known even in China, where State Grid's headquarters are located. I believe that the secret of this is the way we work, as if we were a chain, a link embedded in a link. Everything is very synchronized when we are in the field, so we work always observing and taking care of who is in the team with us.
It's a safety culture that we take to life. We always do the Daily Safety Dialogue in the morning and we also have the Guardião da Vida program, which is nothing more than taking care of and protecting others. The guardian of life is that person who not only looks out for his own safety, but for that of others as well.
I end up taking this knowledge about safety to my family and to my life. I have a 4-year-old son, Bernardo, who is my life. I recently went on vacation with my family and we spent a few days at a resort.

So, this care for others is part of our daily lives and we also practice it with our teammates, who are like a family too. We also have a very good structure to work safely. We have safety equipment, courses and training, leadership support to carry out the taks with excellence and productivity, but without sacrificing safety.
However, as it is written in our locker room at EA Guararapes, safety is ours to be guaranteed. I always try to transmit this to the younger ones, because it's no use having the equipment, signing that you took the PPE, and then not using it correctly when you're working with the network.
At the end of the day, what I see is that this view translates into quality. I have the peace of mind to perform a good service, because I know that my partner is also aware of the risks, I trust the equipment I work with and I count on the company's support to carry out all the processes calmly and safely.
The reward also comes with the customer's praise. On a daily basis, we make new connections, increase load, change meters, maintain networks damaged by animals or trees. And when the service is finished with quality, the customer thanks, greets and realizes the importance of the work we do. This is very gratifying and makes me very proud to wear this CPFL uniform. So much that I had a similar outfit made for Bernardo!”
